Gloria Patri 01:34
Glory be to the Father, Glory be to the Son, Glory be to the Spirit, Three-in-One. As it was in the beginning, And will be forever. Amen. Amen. Amen.

In Christ alone my hope is found; He is my light, my strength, my song; This cornerstone, this solid ground, Firm through the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace, When fears are stilled, when strivings cease! My comforter, my all in all— Here in the love of Christ I stand. In Christ alone, Who took on flesh, Fullness of God in helpless babe! This gift of love and righteousness, Scorned by the ones He came to save. Till on that cross as Jesus died, The wrath of God was satisfied; For ev’ry sin on Him was laid— Here in the death of Christ I live. There in the ground His body lay, Light of the world by darkness slain; Then bursting forth in glorious day, Up from the grave He rose again! And as He stands in victory, Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me; For I am His and He is mine— Bought with the precious blood of Christ. No guilt in life, no fear in death— This is the pow’r of Christ in me; From life’s first cry to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny. No pow’r of hell, no scheme of man, Can ever pluck me from His hand; Till He returns or calls me home— Here in the pow’r of Christ I’ll stand.

In the morning, when I rise, In the morning, when I rise, In the morning, when I rise, Give me Jesus. Give me Jesus, Give me Jesus, You can have all this world But give me Jesus. And when I am alone, Oh, when I am alone, When I am alone, Give me Jesus. And when I come to die, Oh when I come to die, When I come to die, Give me Jesus.

I know the Lord is nigh, And would but cannot pray, For Satan meets me when I try And frights my soul away, And frights my soul away. I would but can’t repent, Though I endeavor oft; This stony heart can ne’er relent Till Jesus makes it soft, Till Jesus makes it soft. Help my unbelief. Help my unbelief. Help my unbelief. My help must come from Thee. I would but cannot love, Though wooed by love divine; No arguments have power to move A soul as base as mine, A soul so base as mine. I would but cannot rest, In God’s most holy will; I know what He appoints is best, And murmur at it still, I murmur at it still.

Wait for the Lord, Whose day is near! Wait for the Lord, Keep watch, take heart!

Out of my bondage, sorrow and night, Jesus, I come; Jesus, I come. Into Thy freedom, gladness, and light, Jesus, I come to Thee. Out of my sickness into Thy health, Out of my wanting and into Thy wealth, Out of my sin and into Thyself, Jesus, I come to Thee. Jesus, I come to Thee. Out of my shameful failure and loss, Jesus, I come; Jesus, I come. Into the glorious gain of Thy cross, Jesus, I come to Thee. Out of earth’s sorrows into Thy balm, Out of life’s storms and into Thy calm, Out of distress into jubilant psalm, Jesus, I come to Thee. Jesus, I come to Thee. Out of unrest and arrogant pride, Jesus, I come; Jesus, I come. Into Thy blessed will to abide, Jesus, I come to Thee. Out of myself to dwell in Thy love, Out of despair into raptures above, Upward forever on wings like a dove, Jesus, I come to Thee. Jesus, I come to Thee. Out of the fear and dread of the tomb, Jesus, I come; Jesus, I come. Into the joy and light of Thy home, Jesus, I come to Thee. Out of the depths of ruin untold, Into the peace of Thy sheltering fold, Ever Thy glorious face to behold, Jesus, I come to Thee. Jesus, I come to Thee.

None other Lamb, none other name, None other hope in heaven or in sea, No hiding place from guilt and shame, None beside Thee, none beside Thee! My faith burns low, my hope burns low; Only my heart’s desire cries out in me By the deep thunder of its want and woe, Cries out to Thee, cries out to Thee. All who labor and are heavy laden Come unto Me and I will give you rest. Lord, Thou art Life, though I be dead; Love’s fire Thou art, however cold I be: No heav’n have I, no place for my head, No home but Thee, no home but Thee!

May the mind of Christ, my Savior, Live in me from day to day, By His love and power controlling All I do and say. May the Word of God dwell richly In my heart from hour to hour, So that all may see I triumph Only through His power. May the peace of God, my Father, Rule my life in everything. That I may be calm to comfort Sick and sorrowing. May the love of Jesus fill me, As the waters fill the sea; Him exalting, self-abasing This is victory. May I run the race before me, Strong and brave to face the foe, Looking only unto Jesus As I onward go. May His beauty rest upon me, As I seek the lost to win; And may they forget the channel, Seeing only Him.

O the deep, deep love of Jesus, Vast, unmeasured, boundless, free, Rolling as a mighty ocean In its fullness over me. Underneath me, all around me, Is the current of Thy love; Leading onward, leading homeward To Thy glorious rest above. O the deep, deep love of Jesus, Spread His praise from shore to shore! How He loveth, ever loveth, Changeth never, nevermore! How He watches o'er His loved ones, Died to call them all His own; How for them He intercedeth, Watches o'er them from the throne. O the deep, deep love of Jesus, Love of ev'ry love the best; 'Tis an ocean vast of blessing, 'Tis a haven sweet of rest. O the deep, deep love of Jesus, 'Tis a heav'n of heav'ns to me; And it lifts me up to glory, For it lifts me up to Thee.

On Jordan’s stormy banks I stand, And cast a wishful eye To Canaan’s fair and happy land, Where my possessions lie. All o’er those wide extended plains, Shines one eternal day; There God the Son forever reigns, And scatters night away. I am bound (I am bound), I am bound (I am bound), I am bound for promised land! No chilling winds nor poisonous breath Can reach that healthful shore; Sickness, sorrow, pain and death, Are felt and feared no more. When shall I reach that happy place, And be forever blessed? When shall I see my Father’s face, And in His bosom rest?

Doxology 00:43
Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above ye heav’nly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

about

“Let them praise the name of the LORD.”– Psalm 148:13

Doxology means “glory-word.” A spoken word or song that ascribes glory to God. For the past 25 years, the Lord has been gathering and meeting with His people at West End Presbyterian Church here in Richmond, VA. Every time He brings us together for worship, Jesus has good things for us in our shared word, sacrament, and prayer. And we sing to give Him glory.

We believe that a good worship service is full of the sound of the church singing. To belong at WEPC is to worship the Living God and to invite others to do the same. This album draws from the long history of church song and records beautiful pieces of scripture, theology, and poetry set to music that remind us that the Holy Spirit has been at work long before this
generation. And it’s a collection of a few of the songs that have resonated with our people, giving us courage to follow Jesus today.

We often encourage our musicians to “sing believing” as they lead others. On Doxology, as in worship, the musicians are our people. Not pros, just members of the body using their talents. People with stories and a desperate need for the message of these songs to be true.

Doxology also reflects the flow of our Sunday worship service. When we worship at WEPC, we follow a liturgy and logic that itself reflects the Good News. It is God the Father who calls us to worship Him, so we begin with a Call to Worship, join in a song of Adoration, and respond in Prayer. It is God the Son who renews us, so we corporately practice Confession of Sin, Lament, and Repentance. It is God the Holy Spirit who transforms us by His grace, so we respond to the preached word as we participate in Communion, Renewal, and Response. This Triune God sends us out
His people with His blessing, so we sing songs of Sending and a Doxology. Every week, God is glorified in this faithful rhythm.

Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
